IMAGE FUSION TUTORIAL

1 CEU CREDIT  

This tutorial gives an overview of the role of image fusion in Nuclear Medicine. A number of techniques will be comprehensively reviewed; of particular interest are the following:

DICOM requirements for transferring data from other modalities

Technologists' responsibilities for transferring data and creating volumes for fusion

Explanation of principles of image fusion with SPECT, MRI, CT, and Radiation Therapy

Step by step instructions from image acquisition to fusion of information

Use of image fusion to add anatomical information from CT, MRI, to nuclear medicine's functional images

Optimizing imaging parameters in nuclear medicine to have perfect correlation with other modalities, e.g., injection techniques, patient positioning, image processing and patient cooperation.

At the conclusion of this presentation, the tutorial user will be able to understand the concept of image fusion and explain the basic principles, will be familiar with the optimal parameters for producing high quality fusion images; will be aware of the increased responsibility to the patient's quality of care resulting from the use of this new modality; and will understand the necessity of close communication between departments to insure a high quality image.

All of our tutorials are available for your use in reviewing for your Board Certification Examination. Please feel free to review the tutorials and to take the self-grading tests as often as you wish. There is no charge to use these tutorials unless you wish to obtain CE Credit.

Please feel free to review the tutorials as often as you wish; the test may be taken once. If a score <80% is obtained, then the test may be retaken once. RECEIVING YOUR CE CREDIT:
If you have taken one of the tutorials, received a score of 80% or above, and wish to receive CE credit:

Make sure you submit all of the requested information when taking the test. It's not necessary to send us the score sheets since we receive them electronically when you submit your answers for scoring.

Within 24 hours of receipt of your submitted score sheets and payment for the tutorial(s), we will do all of the following:

1. Send a certificate to you via e-mail

2. Send a certificate to you via US Mail

3. Send an electronic copy of the certificate to the VOICE Coordinator of the SNM for tracking your CE Credit (even if you are not a VOICE Member).
